My Favorite Keto Friendly Breakfast Options

by Kari Hale January 30, 2019

We’ve already covered the important food groups, coffee, bread and candy, but what are you supposed to eat for breakfast?

If you ask Jillian Michaels, she will just tell you that you are starving yourself, living off bacon and butter. While that might sound like a dream to some (Mike), that’s not how everyone approaches Keto.

We (I) prefer to get our carbs from veggies. Mike could live the carnivore life, but i’m not down with that. Zoodles are life, amirite?

One of the hardest things we have to train our minds on is changing the thinking from what “can” I eat to what should I eat and how will it fit into my macros (if you track obsessively like me). I love trying to figure out how to make things work.

One of the first breakfast I made is at the top of the list.

1. Poached Eggs with Bearnaise, Prosciutto on Asparagus

Yep, we fancy.

I used my instant pot and had breakfast in 4 minutes.. buh bye excuses

2. Cheese Shell Egg Wrap

I had seen a ton of people on the gram posting their cheese shelled foods, even an omelet. That’s some mad scientist stuff right there so I gave it a try

3. Muffins

Who says you can’t have muffins on keto?

Keto Sony’s Pound Cake Muffins are the bomb. Anyone who follows me on instagram knows these are a staple in my house and I love to melt brie on them.

I may have gone a bit heavy on the cheese on this one… but YOLO!

4. CarbQuik Waffles or Pancakes with Choc Zero Syrup

Can I get an AMEN?

5. Chocolate Chunk Muffins

Listen, if you aren’t a fan of eggs, try muffins. These are AMAZING.

I used this recipe for chocolate chunk muffins but replaced the chocolate with blueberries for Mike. Yes, i’m aware of just how wrong that sentence is.

I made a batch and liked them so much I made a second. I have also used a mini muffin silicone pan to make these (I feel like i’m getting more when I can eat 3 small ones for the same macros as 1 large. That’s how my brain works).

I use silicone muffin liners for my pound cake and chocolate muffins. They’re so much more cost effective and nothing sticks to them!

6. Avocado Toast

Avocado is life… I mean we just talked about bread! It’s perfect when topped with some scrambled eggs.

7. Ketologie Shakes

I love Ketologie Keto Shakes when know I won’t have time to eat. Think Wendy’s frosty, only Keto AF.

I’ve even added a scoop to my coffee for the mocha effect.

8. Two Good Yogurt

Two Good yogurt is a great low carb option, especially the Vanilla flavor, and I love topping it with Stoka Bars.

If you haven’t tried them you must. They are what granola dreams are made of and the macros are awesome.

I tried one that came in our KetoKrate and have ordered them twice since. I won’t ever tell you to buy something, but trust me, do it. DO. IT. NOW.

The crunch factor is a 10. I missed granola bars so badly and this hit the mark.

Mike finds them a bit “too crunchy”, so while he’s busy returning his man card, I will sing the praises of Stoka. He actually doesn’t care for anything super crunchy and is one of those freaks that enjoys the texture of  mushy protein bars.

It’s ok, you can silently judge him too. If you’re one of those freaks that prefers mush over crunch, move along and save the Stoka for us.

9. The Classic

You can also take the Mike route and focus on the basics: egg, sausage, and avocado.

Why yes, that IS olive oil drizzled on the avocado. We KetoAF up in here!

10. Cinnamon Rolls

As I’ve mentioned, I love trying to solve the problem of how to create a macro friendly version of something I ate Pre-keto. I’m sure I’m not the only one who drowned her feelings in a Cinnabon…

Don’t worry, I got you.

These might not be exactly like Cinnabon but they’re good. Damn good.

So there you have it. Breakfast ideas, now let’s keto (and continue to silently judge Mike, because it’s funny).
